These stories and poems really capture the details of our Irish Covid 19 lockdown. The various characters and their interactions build up a real picture of the type of experiences we all endured - from deeply sad to happy and optimistic.
The chronological order serves as a record of how this fateful year unfolded - those daily/weekly details which we may have already forgotten.
The individual writers style shines through and is recognisable in each of their contributions. The stories are inventive and the poems charming. I particularly liked the use of relevant, apt quotations between the chapters.

Locked Down Bubbling Up picks up Goodreads 5* Reviews

I posted our book of Covid pandemic poems and stories to Goodreads and below are the Goodreads reviews which have given it 4.67 stars to date.

This was an anthology of poems and short stories by three different Irish authors. Each was a story about Covid from a different point of view. Everyone's perspective was represented: children, the elderly, those with Covid, those just simply fearing, country folks, city folks, and everything in between. Some of the stories were heartbreaking (and I'll admit to a good tear or two), while others were amusing, humous or even, bizarre.

I did enjoy this anthology. (I especially liked the short stories - the one about the man walking in the rain with the twist at the end was my favorite. Though, I felt like most of the poetry fell a bit flat for me, personally. I tend to like more rhyme-y poems.) That being said, I would feel strange rating this because there were a lot of little errors in the manuscript that I feel like could be corrected quickly, and due to the nature/topic of this novel, it would be a bit petty of me to knock it for that. So I'll leave it unrated for now.

Locked Down Bubbling Up hits the airwaves - book gift for Christmas

Today I was interviewed by Alan Corcoran of East Coast Radio in County Wexford about our new book Locked Down Bubbling Up. It contains new original short stories and poetry written during the Covid-19 pandemic and sought to capture how the virus impacted on all our lives. Its the perfect gift for family and friends as its stories are not just about Covid-19 but were written during the past year. There is plenty of comedy and lightness of touch along with moving moments that catch the reader by surprise. I read the first part of Lesley’s poem “Lockdown” and I believe it went down very well.

The book opens by setting the scene for life in Ireland in January 2020 and then follows the lives of fictional characters whose stories are written in an entertaining easy to read manner. Its an enjoyable mix of styles and content as three very different writers interpret life in Ireland in their own unique ways and the content was written as the year progressed so reflecting the publics changing attitude to life under lockdown. The book also contains carefully selected quotations that compliment and lead into the following stories and poems. With twenty-eight new pieces and c190 pages of reading you get good value for your money.
